To celebrate the launch of Transit Centres, Ford's award winning Commercial Vehicle line up and Transit’s 50th birthday year, A M Phillip Trucktech will be running “Transit Show Live” from Saturday 16th to Monday 25th May.
Ford Commercial Vehicles are packed with exciting technologies and product features which you can experience during the week. In order to whet your appetite, some of these cutting-edge features have been listed below as standard or optional equipment on various models and series across the range.
1. Ingenious Load Solutions
*Load through hatch (Custom and Connect, with dual passenger seat) - Allows users to carry 3 metre pipes or 3.4 metre pipes in the L2 variants.
*Integrated roof rack (Custom) – Ingenious roof rack system folds away flat when not in use. It improves fuel economy and reduces wind noise when stowed.
*Super bright LED load lights (Courier, Connect, Custom and Transit)
*Rear doors that open to 180 degrees (Courier, Connect, Custom and Transit (plus options up to 257o on Transit))
*Load Adaptive Control (Connect, Custom and Transit) – Design to adjust the responses of the Electronic Stability Control system to compensate when the vehicles is unladen, partially or fully laden.
2. Convenience, Safety and Driver Assistance
*SYNC (All CV’s) – Responds to spoken commands so drivers can keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road, allowing users to make and receive calls or play music via Bluetooth technology
*Device Dock (Courier) – Designed to store, mount and change mobile devices, including Smart phone and Smart Nav’s
*Ford Easy Capless Refueling system (All-CV’s) – A unique safeguard ensures nobody can accidentally fill up with the wrong fuel, plus no dirty fuel caps to touch.
*Reverse gear activated rear view camera (All CV’s) - Comes up automatically in the rear view mirror or Sat Nav screen depending on model and ICE pack, with marker lines overlaid to show where the vehicle is heading.
*Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (All CV’s apart from Transit with Dual Rear Wheel)
*Driver Alert (Custom and Transit) – Designed to warn the driver if the system identifies a drop in alertness levels.
*Hill Start Assist (All CV’s) – Designed to temporarily stop the vehicle from rolling down the slope when going from brake pedal to accelerator pedal, ideal for towing and pulling heavy loads.
*Active City Stop (Connect) – Designed to reduce the likelihood or consequences of the van colliding with the vehicle in front in slow moving traffic by applying the brakes if it is detected that a collision is likely.
*Lane Keeping Alert (Custom, Transit) – Lane Keeping Alert is designed to recognize when you approach the road markings without using the indictor and alerts you to vibrations through the steering wheel.
*Trailer Sway Control (Ranger, Connect and Transit) – When the system recognizes that a towed trailer is starting to sway, it reduces engine torque and applies brakes to lower the speed and maintain stability.
3. Ford ECOnetic Technology
*Auto Start-Stop (All CVs) – When your engine is idling at a standstill the engine can automatically shut down to save fuel. When you want to drive off, the engine automatically restarts. Can deliver up to 5% on real world fuel economy savings.
*Acceleration Control (Custom and Transit) – Can deliver real world fuel consumption savings of up to 15% by preventing the driver from accelerating faster when the vehicle is empty than when it is heavily laden.
*Active Grille Shutters (Connect) – Designed to improve fuel aerodynamics and lower fuel consumption.
