Latest IVECO S-Way 530s continue heritage with Alan Davie Transport Fleet

New IVECO heavy duty vehicles join the Alan Davie Transport fleet completing a lineage spanning more than 40 years

Alan Davies Ltd has been buying IVECO vehicles from dealer A M Phillip in Scotland since 1983.

This relationship has flourished over the decades with the fleet now featuring 30 IVECO trucks, the latest delivery being a pair of IVECO S-Way 530 6x2 (AS440S53TX/FP).

The family-run haulage business has a kinship with the family-run A M Phillip, bound with stories of the dealer going above and beyond to provide excellent service. IVECO vehicles have been a staple of the fleet over the years with the iconic TurboStar being a firm favourite with the company founder in the early years as Alan Davie reminisces: “That truck was ahead of its time. It would outperform anything else, a special truck, it pulled like hell!”

Each Alan Davie truck features the unique yellow and brown livery that has become synonymous with the Scottish firm over its 45-year history. Pairing especially well with these IVECO S-Way and their aerodynamically efficient body, the complementary colour pallet is further enhanced by contrasting chrome air horns, alloy wheels, and bold spotlights.

Ian Davie, Alan Davie Transport Manager, said: “We’ve been buying IVECO trucks from A M Phillip for years. Their service and support have been excellent with us developing personal connections with those that work there. The dealer experience makes a big difference.”

Tim Hally A M Phillip Sales Director said: “Both businesses grew together in the early days as neighbours with Alex Phillip providing his now legendary personal service. Each company expanded over time, with Alan Davie retaining a high percentage of IVECO vehicles in his fleet reflecting the service that we still strive to provide today.”

Powered by the Cursor 13 diesel engine, these new IVECO S-Way 530 trucks provide the performance required for heavy haulage while also meeting operational needs for fuel economy. Possessing 2,400Nm of torque, these flexible trucks are at home on both national and European missions. All variants of the Cursor 13 are fully compatible with 2nd generation biofuels HVO/XTL (EN 15940), an important step towards reducing carbon emissions.

Not only a great fit for Alan Davies’ missions, driver feedback on the latest IVECO S-Way to join the fleet has been overwhelmingly positive. Ian Davie commented: “Drivers really enjoy getting behind the wheel of the S-Way. They are extremely comfortable and are capable of covering big miles with ease.

You don’t hear any of our drivers complaining about the IVECO vehicles, they are very good trucks.”

These IVECO S-Way are set to cover over 180,000km each year, so driver comfort was paramount in their specification. The IVECO S-Way cab provides plentiful storage and comfortable bunks to maximise driver rest periods. The reclining bunks are perfectly positioned to take advantage of the handy shortcut buttons for key vehicle features such as lighting and door locks.

Other creature comforts include a fridge, multiple charging points, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The addition of a daytime cooler efficiently regulates cab temperature without needing the engine to run.

Each vehicle is also fitted with a Connectivity Box with Smart Pack, giving the operator access to advanced features such as Smart Reporting to help boost efficiencies, Vehicle Monitoring for keeping abreast of vehicle performance and maintenance, as well the innovative Easy Way smartphone app.

Patrick Farbrace, IVECO UK’s Truck Business Line Director said: “The strong relationship between A M Phillip, IVECO, and Alan Davie Transport is well worth celebrating. This longstanding faith in IVECO product by Alan Davie and the sustained levels of customer service provided by A M Phillip highlights our shared customer-focused values.”
