A range of passive safety features are fitted as standard, including dual SRS airbags (seven with 4Life Club Cab variants), seatbelt reminders and child-proof rear doors. Standard-issue driver aids include Emergency Stop Signal System, Hill-start Assist and Trailer Stability Assist. The latter technology is essential if you intend to tow a trailer or caravan since it automatically counteracts trailer snaking. Meanwhile, Trojan trims feature extra safety tech, including Lane Departure Warning, and Warrior grades add a reversing camera.

Top-tier Barbarian X grades come with even more safety features. Included are automatic High Beam LED headlights, LED front fog lamps and LED number plate lights. Active safety features include Blind-spot Warning, front and rear parking sensors, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System. Should you inadvertently hit the accelerator at speeds of 6.2mph or lower, the latter technology minimises the risk of collision with objects that are four metres in front or behind the vehicle.
